Yes, we are still here. Many major events have transpired, both happy ones and sad ones. Don's dad passed away on Don's birthday (April 21st) from a brain tumor. The sad part is that we miss him greatly, the happy part is that he is no longer infirmed but healed and enjoying the joys of heaven. He was 87 years old. We've also experienced the joys of becoming grandparents. In May, Matt and Peggy gave birth to our first grand daughter, Kenya Grace. We are anticipating the birth of our second grand child from John and Amy in August.
In the mean time, Don spent 50-70 hours each week between his 2 part time(?) jobs and 2 college classes. The classes are finished although one class project is still to be completed this summer. Also the part time job at HP just finished. Now Don will have time to work on his church website job and best of all, help me is doing some house fix up. Maybe we'll even post some pictures of it later.

We're looking forward to some family time with all of our children and future grandchildren over Easter. All will be here by the evening of Easter. After that, we will begin some home improvement projects: painting both inside and outside. Most of it will be done by a painter, but with Kris's improved shoulder, she plans to do some of the work herself. Don will try to help when he can, but is very busy now with 2 part time jobs and 2 college classes.

We've had a busy but very enjoyable holiday season. Thanksgiving with Kyle's family visiting from Oregon and Christmas with Peggy's family (The Botts) in Carlsbad, California. After a week home, we flew to Michigan for a week. The main purpose of our trip was to visit Don's parents and take care of some business for them. We had mostly good weather while we were there, but did get to see a few flakes and an inch or so of snow on the ground. We are settled back home now and getting back into our routine. Don is catching up on his 2 part time jobs before he starts classes again in a couple of weeks at the junior college.

Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for. Don is not only working part time at the church on their website, but will soon begin working part time as an independent contractor for HP.
My shoulder continues to improve. Last year at this time, the pain was just beginning.
We will be hosting Thanksgiving this year with our new Oregon family members (the Wiens) plus a few more.
God is good in providing all our needs.

Fall Activities: Don is busy now taking 2 classes at the local community college. One is basic web design and one in photoshop. He is also working part time for our church maintaining their website. Hopefully these activities will lead him into his next full time job in web design area. I'm busy with Jazzercise, quilting, volunteer work at an elementary school, scrapbooking and driving Don crazy with my requests. We are also helping to lauch a new young married couples class at church. Did I say I was working hard at driving Don crazy?

Announcing the newest members of our family: Kyle and Jennie Wiens! Kyle and Jennie were married on Oahu on June 21st after a week and half vacation with all of our family! We had a wonderful time and it was capped off by a perfect wedding. We are so happy to add Kyle to our Pottenger Clan! Can't wait for all of you to meet him.

God has been keeping Don very busy lately. Not only is he taking a web design class at a local junior college, but is also taking classes from a career counseling business including working on his resume. He is still trying to figuring out what he wants to do "when he grows up." And if that is not enough, he is keeping even busier now taking care of Kris and has taken over her domestic duties. Kris has been dealing with a rotator cuff injury since Thanksgiving and was just recently diagnosed with a frozen shoulder. Other than her physical therapy exercises, she is supposed to be resting her shoulder and not doing much housework. She has been catching up on movie watching and watched a lot of Olympics. Hopefully her injury will begin to heal soon and she will be able to step back into her own life. For now, she is very thankful that Don is "retired" and able to help her out.

Sorry for taking so long to update our news. We had a wonderful Christmas in Southern California with our children (and soon to be son in law) and with Peggy's parents, the Botts. Don is beginning to attend classes and counseling sessions now to help him figure out what employment he will pursue next. Kris has been struggling with very painful "bursitis" in her right arm but it is finally improving. God is good and we are trusting Him with our future!

After being away from home more often than not in the last three months, Kris is ready to settle down in San Jose for a while. Michigan, San Luis Obispo, and two weeks touring the New England states kept us pretty busy. It sure feels good to be home. Now who is this guy (Don) that is around all day? Official retirement is here now and we'll have to wait and see how that goes.
